Hi there!

I am Pratibha Goenka, currently an MBA student at MDI, Gurgaon. While normally my life is surrounded by management books, my alter ego is a traveller who loves adventure and exploring the local culture. There is something in the air of Egypt, a sense of mystery and puzzle. In no time, it took me back in time and I started reminiscing about all the secrets I had read about them. As soon as I reached the Pyramids, they seemed nothing like the ones I had been seeing in pictures. I felt like time travel became real and nothing could come close.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the history of Egypt. And then it was the movies of mummies and then Agatha Christie's novel, Death in the River Nile. Then came the opportunity to discover this amazing place for a month. And when I think of it, I still can't believe I was here. I can't believe I stood in front of the magnificent architecture that has continued to define the unique culture of Egypt for ages. And which has continued to attract discoverers, researchers, explorers, and every kind of tourist from every corner of the world. Rightly so!

Yes there is something about it which made me feel at home even if I was thousand miles away from my real home. The bustling bazars seemed to welcome me every time I passed by them, the desert landscapes looked never ending, the boats in the Nile looked like gems. Heck! They looked intentionally decorated to give you a perfect setting! And the souvenir shops, oh my god! They will always keep reminding of the unbelievably powerful pharohas whose kingdom stands strong to this date to narrate the best stories in the world!

Perks of studying in Gurgaon? You can pick a place randomly and just head there on a weekend. And that’s what we did! We went to Jaipur and stayed in a hostel for the first time. But the highlight of the trip was how beautifully we managed to cover all the places within a shoestring budget. 2300 was our per head cost including every single thing! Couldn’t have felt more proud of ourselves, isn’t it? @damanidipshika 😅

I miss waking up early in the morning, with the rays of the early morning sun on my face. Sometimes by the calm sea, so clear that I would see my reflection in the sea water. Sometimes at the middle of the forest surrounded by the myriad sound of nature. Sometimes to see it rise from behind the mighty mountains when it bathed them in golden colours.

I miss running barefoot to the beaches so that I don’t miss one sight of the rising beauty.

I miss seeing galaxies turned into the rays of sun as I spend the whole night looking at the sky, in the middle of a vast desert.

And I miss waking up with the hope of a beautiful day to look forward to! ✨

I had always wanted to visit Patrika Gate for the sheer beauty it portrays. I had seen so many pics of this place on Instagram but when I saw it for the first time, I was truly mesmerised. But I must say it looks absolutely grandeur and stunning in real. If you are a photography enthusiast or love to see yourself in pretty frames, don’t forget to visit this place. Pro Tip: Come early, around 7-8 am to avoid crowd if you don’t want to be photo bombed by couples in love, immersed in their pre wedding shoot fascinations!

My recent trip to Jaipur was short but was so much fun! We covered almost everything within 2 days along with having fun in our hostel. If you are planning to visit Jaipur, there are mainly 4 forts and palaces. If you are planning to visit Nahargarh fort, it’s worth only for the views. The fort itself is highly under maintained, has been commercialised by private ones, and has unnecessarily displayed modern art which has no link with the rich history of the fort. Nonetheless, we really loved visiting Amber Fort.

We would wait for 10 minutes for the pigeons to fly and run to the spot within seconds to capture the magical moment. How lovely this city called Udaipur is! If you visit Udaipur, make sure to start before sunrise one day, go to the ghats and explore your photography skills. This ghat was just adjacent to Bagore ki Haveli and the view from here was magnificent and peaceful at the same time. We sat for hours together and also made some friends from Mumbai. Just the way the definition of travel goes for me! Slow and beautiful 💗

Every corner in Bali is a manifestation of luxury but in the utmost sustainable manner. The air you breathe, the food you eat, the landscapes, the cafes, the growth in tourism, the relaxing spas, and in short, their way of life is so sustainable that I actually returned as a changed person. My idea of an organic life is no more limited to reading articles or listening to lectures. We hopped temples for days together in Bali. When you do the same thing continuously in trips, there is a boredom that sets in. But in Indonesia, it was surely not the case! I remember doing enough research on places to visit in Indonesia but somehow I just missed this beautiful gate! Fortunately, on our way back, since we were on a scooty, we easily spotted the long queue before this gate. As we stopped to see, voila! It was the popular Handara Gate! While we also stood in the queue and took pictures, the fun didn’t stop here! We entered the gate to reach what looked nothing less than heaven. And a short ride took us to the restaurant by the golf course. To check how breathtaking it was, see the other pictures. If you ask me one must-do thing at Bali, it would undoubtedly be this. Floating Breakfast at Cabina Bali! It’s not just the experience that we thoroughly enjoyed but also how delicious the breakfast was! And this particular brunch which included 2 mocktails, 2 desserts, 2 main dishes, coffee and tea kettles costed us 1200 INR! Enough to serve two people!

Also, while we wanted to have a brunch here for the amazing experience, we made sure nothing is wasted! And so we didn’t order the bigger version of this which is also available with even more delicious dishes! If you are a bigger group and love non vegetarian dishes, the bigger option is a must have!
